Élise Hiron is an enthusiastic and dynamic violist and pianist based in Switzerland. A dedicated chamber musician, she is a founding member of the Wendel Piano Quartet, and recently joined the Moser String Quartet, an award-winning ensemble with whom she has performed in many European countries and in Japan. As a pianist, she has formed a duet with cellist Miquel Garcia Ramon since 2020.
She is a member of the Orchestre de Chambre Fribourgeois, and has regularly worked as an invited principal in Geneva (OCG) and as an academist in Basel (KOB) and Lausanne (OCL). She is often invited in the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, and has led the viola sections of cameratas in Switzerland such as Resonart and the Ensemble Flutlicht.
She holds Degrees in both instruments from Paris, Basel and Lausanne. Her studies took her to Cleveland, Sion, and to masterclasses such as IMS Prussia Cove, ECMA, ProQuartet, Zermatt, and the Geneva ISA.
As a teacher, Élise focuses on chamber music for younger pupils and non-professional adults, and has taught in several chamber music masterclasses such as Cratoule, Les Entresemaines, AUMC Lausanne and Scottish Classical Links on the Isle of Mull. Élise was the Organ Tenant of the church of Saint-Barthélemy en Vaud between 2014 and 2024, and she has worked as an accompanist in the École de Musique de Lausanne and the Schola de Sion.
Her eagerness to find ways to link her musical journey with a broader interest in the world around her has led her to co-create the Festival Nouvelle Heure, a charity based in Lausanne with whom she organises fundraising cultural events for NGOs such as SOS-Mediterrannée.
Elise is generously supported by the Rahn Kulturfonds.
